Review:
I promised years ago that I would do this review... better late than never!
To start off, this dystopian themed universe has become common now and days. It seems like authors threw out vampires and werewolves and tossed in messed up post-apocalyptic universes.
Despite the overuse of the theme, it was a great read that kept you interested in both the romance, action, and suspense. Most of the characters were well rounded and were not too predictable. It had a nice balance of balance and romance. The main character Tris seemed like a suitable role-model for the younger readers. Her bravery and loyalty are some things everyone can admire. If I had to give a rough description of Tris I would say she has more common sense than Bella Swan and more decisive than Katniss Everdeen.
I liked the universe that Veronica Roth created. I noticed there were some undertones of Scientology in the book but, most people don't see it and it's what makes the book interesting, so I choose to ignore that fact. ( Don't know what scientology is? click
here for a definition) I think she really was creative with the different factions.( Abnegation, Dauntless, Erudite, Candor, and Amity) It gave the readers something to obsess over in the book.
"What faction do you think I should be in?"
What I like most is one of the messages the author sends. I interpret it as her saying that it takes more than one trait to make a well-rounded person. I found that there are many different themes to the book and I love that because it leaves room for the readers to get their own message from the book.
